Dr. Hepworth can provide advanced care and diagnostics typically only available at large referral hospitals right on your farm, saving you the added cost, time, and stress of a referral hospital trip.
Services are typically provided in consultation with your regular veterinarian; if you are not currently working with a regular veterinarian Dr. Hepworth is happy to work directly with clients as well.

Typical cases manged by internal medicine specialists include:

• Brain and nervous system – problems include: equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM), wobblers disease, seizures
• Lungs and respiratory tract – problems include: pneumonia, heaves, inflammatory airway disease, exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage, strangles
• Gastrointestinal system – problems include: chronic colic, diarrhea, Salmonellosis, gastric ulcers, liver dysfunction
• Kidneys and bladder – problems include: acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, bladder stones
• Endocrine system, including the pituitary gland, thyroid, and pancreas – problems include: Equine Cushing’s disease, Equine Metabolic Syndrome, insulin resistance
• Heart and blood vessels – problems include: heart murmurs, atrial fibrillation, myocarditis, vasculitis
• Musculoskeletal system – problems include: polysaccharide storage myopathy, hyperkalemic periodic paralysis, laminitis
• Neonatology, including intensive care of severely ill newborn foals
